For Glasgow Doors Open Day, I ran a public drop-in workshop at the Pipe Factory, inspired by sherds from my archive fragmentfound.com. Participants were asked to use the small, broken glimpses of pattern and imagery on the sherds and use drawing to expand out to create an imagined design. Using this playful approach to archaeological processes the drawings were then be projected onto complete pieces of pottery (such as teapots, plates and vases) as a way of reimagine these lost artefacts. In addition to the creative activity, books and objects from the Strange Exchange library opened up conversation on Glasgow’s pottery heritage, an industry which has been wiped from the city.
