I was invited by Bo’ness HippFest (silent film festival) to host a workshop that encouraged people to take a break from the screen and connect with the landscape and history of the town. Once a thriving centre of industrial activity, Bo’ness still holds traces of its past, revealed with each low tide. Through the practice of mudlarking, participants uncovered fragments of pottery, glass, metal and other tactile remnants of the town’s heritage. Together, we collected, documented, and creatively responded to our finds through drawing, writing, and photography compiling this material into small handmade books - reimagining the past and exploring the ways industry has shaped this ever-shifting shoreline.
