Darwinian Spoons
2018. Red clay, glaze.
Darwinian Spoons uses the study of the Galapagos finch evolution as a design methodology. Diversifying from a single species, the birds fill their own specific niche, mitigating competition with one another. This project applies adaptability as a design methodology. Starting with identical unbaked clay spoons, small adjustments to each brings a new functionality. In this way, the objects do not compete with one another, but compliment each other as a collection.
